The deadline to apply for the Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training Program tax credit to reduce the financial burden of training costs is December 1. The program gives employers the opportunity to upskill current and future employees in today’s high-demand industry. The program offers tax credits up to $1.5 million per year for calendar years 2023 through 2026. Employers can apply for income tax credits for half of the approved training expenses, up to $25,000 in tax credits. Applications will be reviewed and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Employers of all sizes and industries looking to sponsor current or prospective employees to complete a CDL training program are eligible to apply. Employers must be registered to do business with the Ohio Secretary of State and employ Ohio resident W-2 employees. Trainings can be conducted by a qualified external training provider with an active status on the Ohio-Approved CDL course provider list OR a qualified internal trainer.
