RESOURCES: SBA Launches Cyber Security for Small Businesses

With its focus on the manufacturing, the recently launched Ohio Cybersecurity for Small Businesses Pilot will educate, train, mentor, and improve small businesses’ ability to mitigate cybersecurity threats. Funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, this program is designed to lead small businesses through steps to identify cybersecurity threats, respond to cybercrimes, and develop resilient infrastructure. This comprehensive cybersecurity training course covers essential topics to enhance organizational security for small businesses. Participants will learn about creating strong passwords, fundamental cybersecurity best practices, and recognizing and avoiding phishing attacks.

The course was created by the Ohio State University Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence and uses content from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. It includes creating a cyber inventory, the role of internal audits and methods for data protection and access control. It emphasizes securing networks and endpoints, the importance of security awareness training, effective incident response, and managing vendor-related risks. Additionally, learners will understand the significance of patch management, regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and cyber insurance. The course concludes with a review of key topics and actionable steps for immediate implementation to strengthen cybersecurity measures. REGISTER NOW
