Operated by New Albany-Plain Local Joint Park District, New Albany Parks and Recreation features more than 200 acres of parkland as well as 38 baseball, football, soccer, and lacrosse fields. Complexes at Bevelhymer Park and Thompson Park provide seven tennis courts, 16 pickleball courts, and one basketball court as well as walking trails, playgrounds, pavilions, and concession stands. The Wexner Community Park, available for gatherings and community events, offers a pavilion with fireplace, warming kitchen, restrooms, and adjacent playground and lawn space. In October, New Albany Parks and Recreation team broke ground on the new Fieldhouse and Community Center project located on the northwest corner of Bevelhymer Road and Walnut Street. The new complex is scheduled to open in fall 2026. Parks and Recreation serves the New Albany-Plain Local School District, the City of New Albany, and Plain Township. The primary source of funding is a permanent operating levy that funds all operating costs including utilities, equipment, wages, and supplies. The permanent operating levy is also the source of funds for capital improvements or purchases.
