Neighborhood Bridges is a national 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving New Albany and 10 other central Ohio school communities that addresses the growing rate of poverty in suburban and rural America. The organization uses technology and social media to advocate for children and families in need and then engages the community via a “campaign for kindness” to remove barriers, bridge community resources, and provide direct support. Advocates at schools, mental health agencies, churches, and other service organizations post needs via a secure website that maintains recipient anonymity. Neighborhood Bridges then shares those needs with subscribers and followers through emails and social media posts. Typical needs include food, clothing, shoes, coats, eye exams, school supplies, school fees, furniture, household items, and monetary donations for household expenses.
