PARTNER PROFILE: Canine Companions’ Service Dogs Promote Independence

Canine Companions is a national nonprofit with a regional facility in New Albany that provides highly trained service dogs to help adults, children, and veterans with disabilities live with greater independence. The organization also trains facility dogs for healthcare, criminal justice, and educational settings. Its North Central Training Center, based in New Albany, serves Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Mississippi, North and South Dakota. Founded in 1975, Canine Companions has provided more than 7,300 service dogs to individuals with disabilities. The highly trained dogs and all follow-up services are provided at no cost to clients.
