Axium Packaging, one of the first businesses to invest in the New Albany International Business Park’s Personal Care and Beauty Campus, is investing an additional $45 million to build a state-of-the-art recycling facility here. The new operation, Vertix, plans to recycle and convert 50 million pounds of plastic into post-consumer resin (PCR) that can be used to manufacture plastic bottles and other packaging solutions. The 120,000-square-foot facility will produce packaging innovations to help clients, including Unilever, Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson and Bath & Body Works, achieve their sustainability goals.
The facility is designed to separate, break down, clean and convert recycled waste into PCR pellets for future manufacturing needs. The building design features an elevated observation area for corporate and educational tours of the recycling process. The manufacturing and warehousing facility is situated on a 24-acre site that has ample space for expansion.
