City Receives Funding for Opioid Addiction Programs

New Albany will receive $71,709 as part of the OneOhio Opioid Settlement fund. In March, the city signed the OneOhio memorandum of understanding to jointly approach settlement negotiations with opioid drug manufacturers and distributors. The city has received the first installation of $3,077 and will continue to receive funding for the next 18 years. According to the settlement, the funds must be used to expand availability of treatment for individuals affected by substance-use disorders; develop, promote and provide evidence-based substance-use prevention strategies; and provide substance-use avoidance education.
