New Year Offers Business, Health and Cultural Events

The new year is filled with activities, events and programs that appeal to a wide variety of residents, employees and employers. New Albany Chamber of Commerce’s Community Showcase & Job Fair, February 10, allows local companies to showcase products and services and promote job openings. Innovate New Albany, the city’s incubator for technology startups and small businesses, offers bimonthly Expert Office Hourswhen individuals can gain advice from tenants with expertise in subjects ranging from law and finance to marketing.

On February 27, Healthy New Albany will host its annual Chilly Chili Mile, a one mile walk with 100 percent of proceeds going to its health, wellness and fitness programs and services. Farmers Markets continue indoors at the Heit Center for Healthy New Albany on the first Saturday of each month. Singer and actor, Audra McDonald, showcases the artistry that has led to Tony, Grammy and Emmy awards on February 27 and New Albany Symphony Orchestra celebrates the 100th anniversary of African American composer George Walker on March 6 at the McCoy Center for the Arts. The New Albany Lecture Series continues its season March 10 with a national security program featuring H.R. McMasters, National Security Advisor, Retired Lieutenant General, U.S. Army, and best-selling author who will be joined by Mary Louise Kelly, co-host of NPR’s “All Things Considered.”
